help with mplayer


ok i installed mplayer i did the un tar, and i did make and make install and ./configure -enable-gui, but when i type in mplayer in the directory it says command not found.


what can u do... i just wanna be able to watch mpegs

I hope you didn't do it in that order. *g*

Try an 'updatedb' and 'locate mplayer' or maybe look through any installation scripts (I forget what the mplayer source files looked like) and see where it sent it. It really should be *somewhere* on your path, though. And to get the gui the easiest is to call it as 'gmplayer'.

to watch mpegs mplayer is the best vedio player. but are you sure you follwed the following steps:

./configure --enable-gui
make
type "su" and give root password
then type make install

this whole process should take some time.

now, put skins in the directory "/yourhomedirectory/.mplayer/Skin/default
put fonts in the directory /uisr/local/share/mplayer/fonts

now run mplayer or gmplayer

and do i just download the new fonts and skins and put it into those direcotries?
