Help with Linspire

Hi!
My brother has been touching the computer and he has fu**ed it....
Every time i want to enter Windows XP i can't because an error of "Explorer" appears....
I've installed LinSpire in another hard drive...
I'm planning to backup all the files from the other hard drive into DVDs, and then format my hard drives and reinstall windows xp.

The things is that i don't really know too much abour Linux and i don't know how to make DVDs with my backups

IF you don't know linux and just want to backup you data and re-install windows anyway. Why not just install Windows XP to the other Hard drive, backup the data you need, then re-install windows to the promary Hard drive..

When you are worried about losing your data, it doesn't seem like the right time to take on learning a new operating system..

And ofcourse my friend after this, you could give linux a try and nothing like this will ever happen...
