Help with k3b

Ok im tired i think that i have tried everything. I had fresh install of SuSE 8.1 and i read about problems with automatic setup of cdroms. I have cdrw and dvd readers. I did do what was told on suse site about doing automatic setup again. Now it seems that cdroms are configured ok and i even update k3b to 0.8.1 and it also find cds correctly but when i start burn .iso from dvd to writer it sends error code 255.

I also found that in configure k3b (setup external programs)
i have installed
cdrdao 1.1.5
cdrecord 1.11a28 (i have also updated this cause i thought the problem would be this one)
eMovix (not found)
mkisofs
tccat (not found)
tcdecode (not found)
tcextract (not found)
tcprobe (not found)
tcscan (not found)
vcdxbuild (not found)
vcdxgen (not found)

So what are these (not found) and where i can found those, i have looked suse installation cds but??????????????????????????

try using cdrecord manually (ie, run it from command line not through a front end).

That should give you a more specific error. Also I don't know how it's set up in SUSE but in most distros you have to make cdrecord suid root in order to burn as an ordinary user.

It would also be helpful if you could tell us what options you're using when you burn a cd.

The CD-Writing HOWTO has *very* good information on getting your burner to work under Linux. No matter what fancy fluff your distro uses to try to make it gui you can still follow the HOWTO and set it up manually.

Search those missing packages here:

rpm.pbone.net

www.rpmseek.com

Actually you can install apt-get for SuSE to get those without searching ;-)

Have a lot of fun :-)
