help with grip configuration switches
 

hello,
i want to use grip to rip/encode in to ogg vorbis. grip is working, i did a test. default settings from install gave me a set of wav files and a set of mp3's. i then edited the configuration lines from mp3 to ogg, and ripped again. i got a set of ogg files. the wav, mp3, and ogg files all play
and sound good. kudos to the folks who wrote grip!
here's the rip configuration:
~/ogg/%A/%d%n.wav
and here's the encode configuration:
Encoder: oggenc
Encoder executable /usr/bin/oggenc
Encoder command-line -o %m -a %a -l %d -t %n -b %b -w
Encode file format ~/ogg/%A/%n.ogg
i have two questions:
did i really create ogg, or did i just get another set of mp3's named .ogg?

what are the correct settings to get ogg files, at an ogg quality level of 6
(bit rate of 150-160?) ?
Thanks for any help. I visited the grip website and read the documentation, but i didnt see the values for these switches.

any recommendations other than grip to rip to ogg? that might make ripping to ogg easier to set?

I don't use ogg (yet) but those switches look OK. View the man page for oggenc (type man oggenc in a shell) to verify the switches yourself.

I am fond of a script called dekagen to rip CD's quickly and efficiently, but I use Grip a lot too. It all depends on what mood I'm in. :)
Dekagen might just be a tad easier to use than Grip even though it doesn't come with a point-and-click interface.

i will also take a look at your suggested link. i'm not adverse to
trying out cl functions.
