Help with Gnome and starting an application on boot

I am probably just doing one little thing wrong, but i can't work out what, so I thought I would ask.

I am trying to get the Avant Window Manager (avant-window-navigator ) to start automatically when gnome loads.

So I am going to System > Preferences > Sessions, and then clicking add. I type AWM in the name field, avant-window-navigator in the command field and AWM in the comment field. I then press OK (I can see the event is there) and close. Then I log out of my gnome session.

When I log back in, the event does not start, and is not visible in the sessions dialogue when opened from the menu.

Any Ideas??? Thanks Heaps

This might help:
OS: Ubuntu 7.10
Kernel: 2.6.22-14
Gnome Ver:2.20.1

In Sessions there should be a Startup tab. That's where you place programs to start at boot.

Cheers
