Well, could someone tell me the commands on how to run a disk from the xandros editon of linux? Directions from how to get to the command prompt and how to run the disk in the drive. Help on this would be great!!!

depends on the type of disc (audio cd, windows cd, etc..). To get to the command line you can hit Ctrl+Alt+F2 or you can open a terminal from somewhere in your main menu. Then, there should be a folder called /mnt/cdrom. Go there, and and see if you can see the CD-ROMs files. if not, type
cd /
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
Now, if you go back to that folder, you should see files from your CD-ROM
i tried it. it didn't work. i am trying to instal msn on my comp and the command promp came up with
-bash (then the thing you said to type.)
(btw i am online on another comp)
so what do i do? i am a newby with comand promp info so the more you tell me in great detail the more of help it would be.
Could you please start editing your own posts rather than
responding to your own thread, particularly if it's not any
useful information that needs to be contributed or a solution
you found for you problem?

What do you mean you are trying to install msn??? Is the MSN installer on a cd-rom? BTW, the version of MSN you download from messenger.msn.com will not work, it is a windows application and as far as i know there is no support for it in wine as of yet. Go to
amsn.sourceforge.net
and you can download an MSN Messenger clone for Linux. Instructions are on the site.
Also, to access a cd-rom do the following commands at the command prompt (you can get to this through a folder in the main menu, it is probably called system something or other (I use Fedora, not Xandros) and terminal or konsole.
su
(root password)
mkdir /mnt/cdrom
(this might report an error about the directory already being there, just ignore it)
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
cd /mnt/cdrom
ls
Now a list of the files should be on the cd-rom. If this was not the info you were looking for then please be more specific as to what you are trying to do.
