Help updating to KDE 4.4 (guide included) Interesting problem....

http://not403.blogspot.com/2010/02/k...riva-2010.html

thats the guide im following (Using Mandriva linux btw)

when i do this command:

urpmi --auto-update --auto-select --test

everything is normal, however it asks me this:

In order to satisfy the 'kernel-devel' dependency, one of the following packages is needed:
1- kernel-desktop586-devel-2.6.31.6-1mnb-1-1mnb2.i586: The kernel-devel files for kernel-desktop586-2.6.31.6-1mnb (to install)
2- kernel-desktop586-devel-2.6.31.5-1mnb-1-1mnb2.i586: The kernel-devel files for kernel-desktop586-2.6.31.5-1mnb (to install)
3- kernel-desktop586-devel-2.6.31.12-1mnb-1-1mnb2.i586: The kernel-devel files for kernel-desktop586-2.6.31.12-1mnb (to install)
What is your choice? (1-3)

I don't use Mandriva, but those are most likely kernels you've got on your system. Three of them due to updates. You're probably running the latest, so choose option 3.

Like Brian says this is due to prior updates, i have the same in my Mandriva and you probably still have entries for those kernel in your grub or lilo, just confirmed wich one your system use with the command <uname -a>, and you can also delete those entries in your boot loader.
