Help:sending of undelivered mails back to the sender in Sendmail


Hello,

I have a email server with RHEL 4AS with sendmail configured.

An user has reported that he is not getting undelivered mails which he sent...

So any changes have to made in config file??? Help me!!!

I think the default for all bounce mail, (basically any mail that comes back for any reason, or is undelivered), usually are sent back to the postmaster, which is the systems default inbuilt user. I use qmail myself and not sendmail, but I think there is a config file that allows you to pick who will receive bounced mail. Just do a google search for bounce mail for sendmail.

I always say this - but check the maillogs to see if there is a clue why the mail is not being returned to this particular sender.

This is usually the default on most mtas unless the return address is seen as unroutable/unknown
