I am working on switching from windows to linux. I've got Fedora Core 2 fully installed and working now on my latitude x200 laptop. Now what I need is to find out if there are replacement apps for those I used in windows. First, what can I use to back up my dvd's? I used DVDShrink and Nero under windows. Second, I have been using Microsoft Money to keep track of my spending. Is there anything similar for Linux?

GnuCash is a pretty good money program. You can download apt or yum to access repositories of RPM's for FC2, or any distro a repository has been built for.
I find yum to be much better than apt, as it tends to fail on downloads less, but I havent found a graphical front end for yum. Apt tends to fail a bit, but has a nice pretty point and click frontend called synaptic. There are a few good DVD programs hidden away in them.

K3b is the best burning program that I know if in linux. It is also possible to run DVDShrink in Linux with a windows emulation program called wine. There are really no good ways to backup DVDs in Linux without doing that unless you don't mind losing menus, special features, languages, etc. If that is the case there is a program call lxdvdrip, which I've never used and there is no GUI for, but I hear it works well.
