K3b is the best burning program that I know if in linux. It is also possible to run DVDShrink in Linux with a windows emulation program called wine. There are really no good ways to backup DVDs in Linux without doing that unless you don't mind losing menus, special features, languages, etc. If that is the case there is a program call lxdvdrip, which I've never used and there is no GUI for, but I hear it works well.
