Help needed with font installation on Debian 3.1 with locale all set to en_US.UTF-8
From the sound of things as I was first switching fonts it seemed as though I would gain access to all fonts after switching locale to unicode and setting my Fat32 drive to boot utf8. The only real switch it seems I accomplished however was that russian characters in file and folder names on my storage Fat32 switched from question marks to themselves and pretty well all other foreign characters turned to blocks. Can anyone tell me how to get the rest of the fonts so that I can once again use my files as I did on windows?
What fonts do you want?
Just apt-get install the fonts you want. For microsoft true type fonts:
apt-get install msttcorefonts
for non-free fonts:
apt-get install ttf-xfree86-nonfree
Make sure you have the contrib and non-free repositories in your /etc/apt/sources.list
