Help!! Mono on Fedora core 5 - problem

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hey ppl

I installed Mono on fedora core 5, but monodevelop wont open. It doesnt give any sort of message, it just doesnt start.
I am a .NET developer moving from windows to linux, and as you would have realized by now... quite inexperienced with linux to say the least :P.
Any suggestions on how to resolve the issue?
Please help. Thanks in advance.

Ray

Hi,

I am same kind of developer but not switching to linux for .Net
anyways , you must search for some log file that were generated by monodevelop, and there you can find error.

also I have experince qutie a few time that, some Graphical application starts tooo late in Fedore project even on my p4 machine .. but mostly it is like some error where logged some where that can help you.

also, if you are not root user , try to run application as root or if you are running it as root than try visa versa,

Hope that helps

Exclamation Installation help

Hi

I had kind of the same problem. But here is what I did:

Download all the zip-files from go-mono.com/download-stable/fedora-5-i386/

Then unzip each zip-file to a seperate folder.

Then open up a terminal window and change directories to this folder and run this command.

rpm -Uvh *.rpm

If You get a dependency error use this command instead rpm -Uvh *.rpm --nodeps

Order of installation:
1. Mono
2. webserver (downloads as XSP/mod_mono.zip)
3. gtk-sharp-1.0 (download name Gtk#1 - You might already have this installed with FC5, but I did it anyway)
4. Development tools (devtools.zip)

As a true geek I must say: "It works on my machine" ;-)

Good luck guys
