Help locating and patching libwnck on Ubuntu

Hey, I've been googling to this for like two days now.

The problem is, I want Gaim to flash (URGENT Hint) upon recieving an IM. I've found a patch for libwnck that claims to solve this, but I can't figure out how to use it. Patch links will be included below. Thanks a lot in advance for helping.

you will either:

a) have to find a package for ubuntu that has this package incorporated and _replace_ your current libwnk or:

recompile libwnck after patching the source ( again, you want to replace the one on your system, not ./configure,make, make install)

Could you possibly tell me how to replace the one on my system currently? As in, where I could locate it?

Let me restate what I said. What I mean is: How to recompile it, and where the existing file is so that I could replace it.
