help loading raw1394 device module
I have been trying to get dvgrab and Kino to work using Internet resources. Everything is loaded but trying to start dvgrab gives me a raw1394 error saying can't get handle device not found. The resources I have found say RH9 and 2.4.30 kernel come ready to go for this out of the box.
I have performed all the tweaks suggested to fix small bugs such as permissions and other device settings. but am hung on one that seems directly related to my problem. The testlibraw can't get a handle saying either the kernel is not compile for ieee support (which it is) or the raw1394 module is not loaded. To be sure an inspection of my modules.conf reveals no reference fo raw1394 or video1394, only to ieee1394 and ohci1394. To load the raw1394 and video1394 modules using modprobe is a common element in instructions found on the internet and the instructions are simple: modprobe ohci1394 attempt_root=1 modprobe video1394 modprobe raw1394 When I attempt to execute these commands I get modprobe: command not found. I am logged in as a user and working in a terminal window as root. What’s up!? From what I have seen in my research it’s a common command. I can’t believe I hit this brick wall and I can’t find any reference to this on the net. Can someone shed some light? Thanks Jack :scratch: |
maybe /sbin is not in your PATH environnement variable. So try /sbin/modprobe

help with modprobe
I went to /sbin and did a ls -l on modprobe. It 's there and rwx across the board. but I still get command not found when I just type modprobe. As per your suggestion, even inside /sbin I have to type the full path. The windows in me still lingers.

If you want to add modprobe to your command just for a shell session:
Code:
export PATH=$PATH:/sbin Code:
PATH=$PATH:/sbin |
