Help load at 43! What factors does

CPU is 87.3% idle (its a dual core) and I have over 7.5gigs of swap space available.

When I check ps -aux | less there are no processes using a lot of cpu or ram.

What else could be causing my high load?

You have 475 processes! Even if they are all lightweight they still add up.
