Help- keyboard freezed aft awhile in Gnome???

I am using redhat 7.0 installed with text based; on laptop compaq presario 800 (PIII 650mhz, 256RAM).

Using text is fine, just learning here and there using vi etc. etc..

but using startx -> with gnome... not long after doing things... setup or netscape or ppp setup, suddently all freezed-up. I checked, none of the keyboard buttons works. but I notice the speaker volume is still responding. And also the screen saver kicked off...

Please help... thank you so much.

does this problem only occur when you're trying to use netscape or ppp?

hangs... dunno why..

I am not so sure??? I try not to run ppp or netscape... still hungs when I try to setup the monitors' font size...

Then I created new account without configuring ppp or netscape, now ok. Do you think the caused of the problem is the ppp?

Thank you so much...

well, netscape has been buggy and unreliable ever since version 6 came out. but, it's still never managed to hang my system... just slow it down for a few seconds.

however, back when i was first trying to get my winmodem working, ppp would hang the system all the time, and i eventually gave up and bought a new modem. it sounded familiar to the problem you were having.

does it still hang when you're adjusting your x-fonts? exactly where are you configuring them from?

Hangs.... keyboard locked..

Hi...
It was changing the x-font inside terminal windows... then freezes. I thought was a bit inconsistent.

Now I re-install my linux, with the option
1. disable 'dead key'
2. eth0 also disable (since, I dont' connect to networks)

it has been 2 days playing around and connected to internet with no problem any more??? think it is cured... some how...

perhaps the eth0 should have been disable??? maybe??? duno..

anybody got any idea?

Thanks

It sounds to me like x was not setup right for the keyboard.
