Forgive me if this is a repost I did some searching on this forum and i couldn't find anything. I am currently using ubuntu 6.10 (edgy), and I need windows for some music software of mine (sometimes emulators just cant do it) I don't want to completly uninstall ubuntu, install windows, and then reinstall ubuntu again unless I really have to.

I have already tried resizing partitions and then installing windows. GRUB gets erased (of course) from the MBR, and reinstalling GRUB from the rescue disk didn't work (Im willing to try it again though, maybe I did something wrong)

Alright i was wondering if there was any other way I could install windows on a partition and still be able to keep grub. Can anyone help?

Nope - sounds like you did the right thing.
Maybe you didn't get it correct.
Have a look at this on the Ubuntu wiki.
Else tell us what you did to recover grub - exactly.

ok yeah i was doing everything right... turns out all it was was a faulty boot disc... which was still tedious. anyways its all working out thanks for the reply!
