help configuring xine

I just installed xine and tried playing a dvd. The playback is small and off center. I get an error message saying that my machine is too slow. I ran xine-check:

Quote:
[ hint ] Your X server doesn't support YV12 overlays.
That means xine will have to do color space transformation and scaling
in software, which is quite CPU intensive. Maybe upgrading your
X server will help here.
If you have an ATI card, you'll find accelerated X servers on

[ hint ] Your X server doesn't have any XVideo support...
XVideo is an X server extension introduced by XFree86 4.x. This
extension provides access to hardware accelerated color space
conversion and scaling, which gives a great performance boost.
If you have a fast (>1GHz) machine, you may be able to watch all
kinds of video, anyway. You will waste lots of CPU cycles, though...

I'm running an AMD64 3200+, 1GB of RAM, DFI mobo, and a 6800GT. I'm not sure where to go from here. Could someone point me in the right direction?

I am not *certain*, but I *suspect* that you are using the generic i386 kernel config. You may have to reconfigure and recompile the kernel to take full advantage of your hardware, and by doing so, full advantage of the software.

It's also well known that Xine, as shipped by SuSE, is crippled to some extent. You may want to consider removing Xine, and reinstalling from source to get the capabilities not included in the crippled version.

Got it figured out. I just have to use XShm. I'll consider recompiling my kernel. Thx.
