help configuring package
i downloaded some themes for my windows manager and i extracted the files to a new directory. i was reading through "linux administration, a beginners guide, 2nd ed." where it mentioned that i would have to configure the package with the ./configure command after it was unpackaged so that it creates a makefile which will then be used to install it on the system. but when i use the ./configure command i get a message at the prompt no such command. can someone give me some feedback please.

you need to be in the directory with the files you extracted.

help configuring package
i was in the same directory, and i received the same message. because we are talking about a desktop theme here the only contents of the package were two files- a .jpg image and a file with the specs for the image. no readme or documents. i am not sure if that makes a difference or not. any other suggestions. is ./configure the correct command? because i could not find it anywhere in the man pages.

what window manager are we talking about here?
From what you describe it looks like you can use this theme 'as is', i.e no need to compile (which goes for a lot of themes btw). So I'd try copying it to your window manager theme directory. Then you should be able to select in the theme manager. HC |
yea, the configure command isn't appropriate here.
your have downloaded a few files that you are supposed to put in a directory with your other themes for that window manager. now you have to figure out where that is supposed to be. |
