Hello and a question on virtualbox

Hello, my first post here

I am using virtualbox 4.2.18. I want to know why there is no listing to create a linux 3.x kernel profile.

why Virtualbox is still referencing dated kernels and non-active distros from it's list.

For example, dated listings like linux 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6. Non-active distros like Mandriva and Xandros?

Enquiring minds want 2 know

Why? Only Oracle knows for sure.

The current Virtualbox 4.3 has templates for 3.x kernels.
Why so much old software is supported? Simple reason, those old software does not run on new physical hardware, but for many people (especially in business environments) it is necessary to run that software nonetheless. Virtualbox can help them to run that software.

Because for some things running in a VM is the only way to run it on newer hardware.

Removing support for older software and kernels would seriously reduce the usefulness of the VM.

I am puzzled why my previous release did not inform me there was a 3.0 update. I went to the website and downloaded it and install it. So I have the latest now.

Thanks to all
