I have recently upgraded from RH 7.3 to FC2 on one of our servers. This server was running the Real rmserver ( quite happily ). I grabbed the more recent hlxserver v9 from Real and it installed and seemed to run ( I didn't test it though ).
While it may run, it didn't work. I upgraded to v10 from the heli-community site and it displays the same behaviour. The servers don't respond to any of the ports they are listening on and the heart beat queries all fail.
Has anyone got either rmserver or hlx server running on FC2 ? I am assumming it is a 2.6 kernel issue. I can not downgrade the OS as the server runs other services and is now miles away at a co-loc facility :-(
Did you ever figure out if Helix Server will run on FC2? I saw that no one had replied to your message, but thought you may have found an answer elsewhere.
I, too, am getting the same messages as you were. The install went fine, but heartbeat failures start soon after running the server starting command.
sorry if this is a dumb question but i have had exhaustive troubles trying to run helix on slackware10 2.4.26 and i saw this thread by chance and i thought i would give it the same advice a try.
where exactly to you put LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.18 ?
at the prompt just brings up the 'no such file or directory' message.
thanks
I can't speak to slackware, but on Fedora Core 2, the LD_ASSUME... command precedes the command to start the Helix server, all in one string on the command line. For instance:
cheers mang, thanks for returning. yeah after playing about i found that out mais, helas, a aucune travaille. helix is bad and i'm goingf back to darwin..
