Unhappy hdc: (cdrom) hangs with atapi reset crap

Install hangs on "Loading Anaconda....". I hit Alt<F3> and it says "Looking for USB Mouse...." . I don't even have usb enable. I hit Alt<F4> and it keeps scrolling.....
"hdc: command error: status=01x51"
"end request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 587xx"
"Atapi reset"

I have a Giga-byte MB model DXR7
Maxtor 10 gig hard drive
I have tried both a Generic 52x cdrom and Acer 6432a cdrw
Trying to load a downloaded ISO of RedHat 7.2

Help please!!!
