Exclamation HDA NVidia will not work with Amarok, Works with everything else.... help

Ok, so I hope you guys can help me out. I am having a strange problem (to me at least)

I am trying to get my sound to work with Amarok. Everything I have tried has not helped at all. I was over on linuxforms for about 4 days and have not come to a working solution, so here I am!

Here is a link to my past thread:
http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/ubu...tml#post695686

whenever I reinstall amarok and run it, I get and error message (just on the first startup) that says:
"HDA NVidia Is not working, reverting back to (PulseAudio)"

anyways, here are some things that should help us get started:

-sound works with EVERYTHING except Amarok
-the same MP3s I try to play in Amarok play like normal in Totem Movie Player
-I have tried to reinstall xine libs, phonon libs, amarok, etc. and none have helped.

The most relevant error message I can come up with when running "amarok -d" is:
Code:
xine is asking to seek behind the end of the data stream
xine is asking to seek behind the end of the data stream
and
Code:
amarok: [EngineController] [WARNING!] Phonon failed to play this URL. Error: ""
amarok: BEGIN: void EngineSubject::stateChangedNotify(Phonon::State, Phonon::State)
amarok: [Playlist::Actions] [WARNING!] Error, can not play this track.
amarok: [Playlist::Actions] [WARNING!] Failure count: 2
that is just part of the mombo jumbo that is spat out when I double click on a mp3 in amarok and try to play it.

Im seriously getting desperate here guys. I need some help. Thank you so much in advanced. Whatever you need to know just ask me, and if its technical, make sure you tell me how to do it as well, I am fairly new to this.

Code:
swooshonln@swooshonln-desktop:~$ uname -a
Linux swooshonln-desktop 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
Its the Ubuntu 9.04 if that matters, with gnome. (kde libs installed as far as I know)

here is the full debug when I double click on a mp3:
Code:
amarok: BEGIN: void Playlist::Actions::play(quint64, bool)

Is this KDE you're using? I'm guessing with Amarok but, could be wrong. You installed the xine backend, correct? Did you verify it was actually being used?

Under System Settings --> Multimedia --> Backends [ tab ] : make sure that 'xine' is selected.

I am using Gnome, not KDE. Although KDE Libs are installed.

Yes the Xine Backend is installed.

I cannot find The "System Settings --> Multimedia --> Backends [ tab ]", however, I found that dialog before, and it does say that Xine is installed. Do you have a more detailed explanation on how to find it again? I have "System > Preferences" and "System > Administration"

On another note, under "Sound Preferences" in "System > Preferences > sound", all my playbacks are set to "ALSA - Advanced Linux Sound Architecture." Is that set right? I can pick from:

AutoDetect
HDA NVIDIA ALC861VD Analog (ALSA)
HDA NVIDIA ALC861VD Analog (OSS)
HDA NVIDIA ALC861VD Analog (OSS)
ALSA - Advanced Linux Sound Architecture
OSS - Open Sound System
PulseAudio Sound Server

Thank you.

I have rythembox already... I CAN use it, but I dont want to have to "settle" for it, I really liked amarok when I was on linux a year ago.

Code:
swooshonln@swooshonln-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install phonon-backend-xine
[sudo] password for swooshonln:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
phonon-backend-xine is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 27 not upgraded.
swooshonln@swooshonln-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get remove phonon-backend-gstreamer
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package phonon-backend-gstreamer is not installed, so not removed
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 27 not upgraded.
swooshonln@swooshonln-desktop:~$
guess that's not it....

anybody have any idea what to do next?
