Hi, i just installed debian from scratch with just the packages i need, kde 3.2 , x windows, multimedia apps, etc.
My problem is that certain apps depending on gtk 1.2 (the only pattern i see) looks beyond horrible, the fonts of the controls are huge, same for the size of the controls, they look completly out of proportion, some of these apps are:
xmms : file , list selection menu.
linneighborhood : the most uglier of all
komodo ide 3.0 : all of it looks ugly, relies heavily in gtk
I have no problem with the 90% of apps depending on gnome, ethereal , synaptic all them looks very very good.
But the mystery ( for me) is that all those apps looks realy nice in knoppix !!! and i have the same gtk libraries as knoppix.
I realy dont care about how those apps look, with the exception of komodo wich is the "only" ide for python ( wich has at least callback tip , for class members) , i realy have to use this ide wich looks discustinly awfull.
What does knoppix and other distros have or doesnt have to make these kind of apps looks nice?
I got the exact same problm i am running debian sarge on pentium III nvidia card
fonts on amule are extremly small i can not even read, and xmms the select folder dialog as well, let me know if you solve the problem.
