Having a secure online harddrive

I have no idea if there are any free projects that offer this kind of functionality an I have no idea what to google for so here is my question.

I want to access my harddrive over the network through a webpage so I can upload and download files to it securely. I want the things to be password protected and such. Is there such a free project that offers this service.

You might want to check these out, http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Program...ile_Uploading/

If you plan on making a website where there is info and downloadable file, you might want to look into a CMS (content management system). I am playing around with tikiwiki (http://tikiwiki.org).

Setup a secure website with apache and mod_ssl, then create an online page that asks for authentication to be able to upload, etc.

Another option; if you don't have (or want) a webserver running, is to just secure copy the file from/to the machine using OpenSSH and it's tools.

To secure copy a file from a server:

$ scp -p<portnum> <username>@<ip>:/home/<username>/<dir>/<file> .

To secure copy a file to a server:

$ scp -p<portnum> <file> <username>@<ip>:/home/<username>/<dir>

Or you can use GFTP to securely transfer files, just specify SSH instead of Telnet as the transfer mechanism.

If a windows solution is required, look into WinSCP and it's related tools.
