Hard Drive partitioning problems

I just installed a 18gb Western digital hard drive. 9546MB of this hard drive is for windows 98. but for some reason it is giving me problems with partitioning it. If possible can you guys help me with this problem.

If you can I would like for someone to specify the sizes, names, types of partitions that I need ot make for this installation to go smoothly please.

What are the exact errors you are getting? Just in the linux install? And which distro? RH7.2 as your profile says?
Generically if you have a new enough computer, e.g. Motherboard/BIOS, then all you REALLY need are a root ( / ) partition and a (/swap). Things can be split up, but you might as well keep it simple. Let us know the exact errors etc....
