Hard drive Imaging software?

I want to create an image of my linux as well as my windows partition on my hard drive so that I don't have to re-install both windows and linux when windows decides to crap out on me.

Is there any way that I can create an image of these two partitions outside of purchasing Norton Ghost or any like product? Preferably free.

Thanks!

I think Mondo Rescue might be exactly what you're looking for.

u can do it from linux. im sure of it. not sure exactly how to tho, but basicaly ud make a boot floppy/cd (theres some good linux rescue cds about, usefull to have in any event), use standard commands to copy both partitions. i would say tgz'ing it would probably be a good idea, and i think the last rescue cd had burning software on it even (as well as networking of course), so u could burn straight to cd.

someone on here will know far more about this than me. and it will be DAMN usefull to know for certain (/me subscribes to thread).

hope someone can help u out more n me.
