Hard drive encryption

Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu 7.10. I was just wondering if there is a program that could encrypt entire hard disk (or at least a portion) just like what truecrypt. I want real-time encryption and decryption in such a way that if I turn off my PC, all data will just be garbage even if I use a boot cd. Thanks.

I am using EncFS to encrypt a directory. This is how I did it, but you probably need only the two steps in the middle, without the luxurious script & fancy message box. :)

In Debian you can use LVM encryption for the whole hard drive. When I used it, I had a 23 character password for it, so it works really well. I don't know if Ubuntu actually has the option. I got tired of having to type it in everytime I turned my computer on.
