Half Life: Counter Strike

Hey, this is my 2nd day of running Linux, and i'm trying to figure out how to run Counter Strike using wine.

I'm running red hat 8, and i'm using the version of wine that's bundled with the OS. CS was installed a while ago in my Windows 98SE partition. Now its just a matter of configuring wine.conf and all that.

Can anyone help, or direct me to a thread that already covers this?

I am gonna bet that the version of WINE that SUSE comes with was not compiled with OpenGL support.

First you need to make sure that your box is running video drivers that support OpenGL in Xwindows. Then you will probably need to get WINE source code and compile with OpenGL support. Then you can either run it from your Win98 partition or reinstall it on the Linux partition. I recommend doing the latter.

This how-to has everything you need. I have followed it in detail a few times and it works everytime for me.

Thanks! I'll look into it!

(I realize that this thread is about a year old, but I forgot to say "thanks")
