GTKPOD assistance

Total n00b.. plz be kind...

I managed to get GTKPOD installed on my Aspire One running Linpus. I think the iPod is mounted correctly and all that.

When I try to play a song, I see an error "Could not find command 'xmms' specified for 'Play Now' "

I can see in Preferences that the command for Play Now is 'xmms %s'

Should I be pointing that to some other location?

Your help would be much appreciated.

Have you installed xmms? Alternatively, you could try specifying the name of some other program that you use for playing music on your system followed by %s

nope! as I said, n00b. I thought gtkpod would be the player.

What I'm finding is that xmms is outdated - what's a good alternative?

and thanks!

Hi I was having the same issue just ended up downloading an apt called audacious 'sudo apt-get install audacious'
then in the gtkipod app i changed where it said xmms %e.... to audacious %e on both line and it worked ok.

Hope that helps - probs quite an old post.
