GTK not being found?


im running mandrake 9.1 . im trying to install some software but im getting the fallowing error

checking for glib-config... /usr/bin/glib-config
checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.2... yes
checking for gtk-config... no
checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.2... no
*** The gtk-config script installed by GTK could not be found
*** If GTK was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GTK_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to gtk-config.
configure: error: *** GTK+ >= 1.2.2 not installed - please install first ***



note:i do have gtk ,glib,pango,atk, i did a "locate" and they came up also there are some prog that work require gtk that did build but thats they installd when i installed mandrake. anyway this lil dity is getin on my last nerves

PS note i have try editing /etc/ld.so.conf this did solve this same prob i was have on slack ware but it not working here

It's a version mismatch, the program you want to build is looking for GTK1 and mandrake installs GTK2, you can either install the missing libs (gtk1 can live with gtk2) or look for a gtk2 version of the app your trying to install.

just install the gtk rpms (including the devel packages) from the distro cds.

urpmi libgtk+1.2-devel

search this site for more info about installing rpms if you're new to it. also read the relevant parts of the rute guide in my signature
