Question GTK colors not universal

Is there a way to make Pidgin, GIMP and Firefox comply better with my GTK theme? I've noticed that every other GTK app is sort of desert color with white menus, whereas these two are grey with grey menus.
Update: It seems the above mentioned applications are just following the KDE color scheme. How do I make GTK apps ignore the KDE color scheme?
