yup just as I thought, even after intslling it, it is still asking for pkconfig

looks like i am going back to windows, it may crash. but a least instaiing a program does not take all night!

But hey silly! You are doing this the -hard- old fashion way! If you do want to install gimp the fast n easy way do as I did: start mandrake's configuration utility, choose install program, enter "gimp" in the searchfield, check the checkbox and click "install". As you install an RPM with gimp all dependancys will be automaticly resolved and any additional software needed for gimp will be automaticly installed.

Up and running in less than 10min.

I searched for gimp, but the nearset I got was
Quote:

Description: Patterns, gradients etc. for gimp. This package isn't required, but contains lots of goodies for gimp.
I want the actual program *sobs*

rokka 02-15-2004 09:48 AM

gimp-1.2.3-20mdk.i586.rpm is part of the standard mdk9.1 dist so it -should- be there. Perhaps you should try uninstalling the rpm that is allready installed on your computer. And do a reinstall using rpmdrake from scratch.
Also: If you want more sources for software try adding some from: http://urpmi.org/easyurpmi/index.php

One more thing: Mind your language! It is generally a good idea to first vent your frustration and then post here and ask for help.
