Gthumb does not show thumbnails

I moved my images to a new directory. Gthumb no longer displays thumbnails in folders view. There is no way to specify the location of thumbnails that I can find. Version 2.2.0. Running under KDE. Any idea how to get thumbnails to appear again?

Did you also move the ".comments" directory with the pics? Directories that begin with a "." are hidden by default unless you specify "show hidden files" in your file manager.

Yes, I did move the .comments directory. gThumb is displaying the comments. It does not appear to me that the .comments directory is related to thumbnails. There is a .thumbnails directory. I moved it so that it has the same location relative to the new images directory as it used to have. That is, there used to be <old head>/images and <old head>/.thumbnails; now there is <new head>/images and <new head>/.thumbnails.
