Grub2 remove duplicate entry

I am not familiar with grub2 so well as legacy grub. It seems highly overcomplicated, and really only needed for GPT. How do I remove a duplicate Windows 8 entry shown at the grub menu for a dual boot configuration? I read not to edit the /boot/grub/grub.cfg

EDIT:
Also when looking at the /boot/grub/grub.cfg, I only see one entry for Windows 8, so I wouldn't know what to edit exactly to get rid of the duplicate that appears at the grub menu screen.

You can re-generate the grub.cfg configuration script with:
Code:
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Note that on some distros like Fedora and openSUSE, GRUB2 files are in /boot/grub2.

On Debian and Debian-based distro you can simply do:
Code:
sudo update-grub
This is simply a BASH script that runs the above grub-mkconfig command.

If it does not work, please post your grub.cfg file and partition information.

Hope it helps.
