GRUB splashimage configuration / update GRUB

i've been trying rather a long time to get a splashimage in GRUB working - but without any success....

i'm running SuSE 9.0 and using the GRUB version which has already been included - i've heard i have to update GRUB first (though i thought SuSE might be able to place a splashimage in GRUB) - so i've got some questions to all linux gurus out there :P

-> where and how to update GRUB
-> where to get a proper documentation from
-> can anybody help me pls?

thx,
rudL

Hi rudL,
not a linux guru, but I'll try my very best:

Documentation:
There is probably also a lot of information already on your computer. Try typing info:grub in the location bar of your konqueror browser. You can also read the info page online.

Update:
You can download the newest grub rpm from SUSE and install it (try clicking it. That should work ).

Creating and installing your own splash screen:
There is a good web page on the creation and installation of a grub boot splash.

I hope this has helped you.
Good luck,
- drowstar
