You're in your xp bootloader now. Probably google the error or go to micrsoft or microsoft support site? I googled a little and found the reason for this error is "because the file hal.dll is missing or corrupt, or because the system configuration has changed and Windows is looking in the wrong place for it". Found this site which has some explanation of the reasons for the error and possible solutions.
ok, I recopied the hal.dll file again and now I'm no longer getting that error, so at this point I'm getting the windows XP splash screen, however, it get to the windows splash screen and then starts to load but the progress bar stops and hangs there after 20sec or so? now its looks like it might be some driver that's not loading properly or corrupt, I think?
well, something got messed up along the way, why the hal.dll file was currupt or missing, your guess is as good mine if that was even the case? I copied it 3 times and finally it worked?
anyhow, you are correct at this point it is a windows issue indeed and thanks for everyone's help.
