Grub configuration issue,

I have compiled 3 different kernels each of wich I manually entered into grub.conf I understand most of the concepts and commands going on however when I select the kernel to load It begins to load then give the error

VFS: cannot open root device "LABEL=/" or 00:00
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00

Clueless about errors but from what I have figured is it has to do with the System.map files It seems that the link it to the original kernel. How do I tell grub to use a specific System.map?

Hi.

Try removing 'ro root=LABEL=/' from the kernel arguments in grub.conf
