My grub does not work correctly now,It stops at stage2.

I am not clear about the detail mechanism of grub, and
think that reinstall it may be solve the problem.

I boot my system by gentoo(a bootable CDROM ) and
mount my old partition. The all about grub look good.
When i use "grub" to resintall grub(I have ever did it),
It can't finish succefully. The message are as following:
Probing devices to guess BIOS drives
end_request: I/O errors; dev 02:00 /dev/floopy
what's the problem?I didn't cabling floopy on my machine .
how to let grub be ok? I need your help.
