GRUB and usb keyboards

hi!
I presume the software forum is the correct forum for any problems related to bootloaders, as they are software, obviousely.

Ok, so i have GRUB on my computer. I just got a new USB keyboard. the keyboard works in windows, obviousely,[edit] and works in linux once the system boots[/edit]. but won't let me select my operating system in GRUB.

Currently, the system has a configuration something like this:
-HDA1 = windows XP home
-HDB2 = Kubuntu "Breezy Badger" (debian-based distrubution with KDE, kernel 2.4)

So! Could anyone point me to some instructions for how to configure GRUB to boot this system so that it will let me use my USB keyboard to select the operating system?

Thanks!

I usually don't support bumps, however, i have some information to add therefore I can't call this thread a bump

[note: you can skip this paragraph.]
First off, yeah, not to sound like a beggar, but i am really quite desparate. I perfer linux over windows, agreed. Linux has never given me problems with stability and bugs, as windows has many times. But i have software that i am required to use right now (whether i like it or not, no time to wait for a port, and no time to make one myself) that runs only in windows, and some of it (namely testout - part of the A+ certification course, uses a lot of directX) won't run using wine. Please help!!
[end of skippable paragraph]

I should have been a little more specific about my system. Maybe some more information on the configuration would help someone ... i know you aren't on my computer, you don't know my computer like i do, so i'll tell you about it.

PRIMARY IDE:
-HDA (master, obviousely)
-HDB (slave, obviousely)
SECONDARY IDE:
-HDC (CD-RW)
-HDD (DVD-ROM)

HDA:
-HDA1: Windows' partition. takes up the whole disk (linux only needs 5gig on my comp )

HDB:
-HDB1: A fat32 partition i use to share data between operating systems
-HDB2: Linux' / partition
-HDB3: Linux' /home partition
-HDB4: Swap

Grub is in the MBR. It still works, but i have to use a PS/2 keyboard. The new keyboard i have has some special features available in windows, but it requires USB. (i wish some of the special features were available in linux. stupid closed-source drivers.)

So, i hope that's enough detail about the system. Could someone help me configure GRUB?

You should be looking in your BIOS for an option that is called Enable USB Keyboard or Legacy USB support or something similar.

Also, does the USB keyboard work in BIOS?

USB keyboards are enabled in the CMOS. Works everywhere except GRUB.

Ok fixed it by turning on USB keyboard option on the BIOS, It was elusive to me because it dit not say 'legacy' and it was hidden inside a second sub menu on the peripherals menu.

I also have to 'trigger' a keyboard event on my boot up. To trigger it I had to keep pressing the caps lock key to get a response before the actual bootloader runs. If i dont do this the grub menu (in some cases) will not have usb enabled.

Im using the logitech dinovo keyboard.
