growisofs - LUN appears to be stuck...

Hi guys

Hope you can help with this problem. I'm new to Linux and have been asked to write a program which backs up some data to dvd. I'am using growisofs to burn data to multiple dvd discs at once. What I'm trying is to open mutiple terminal windows and type the command

growsisofs -speed=8 -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvdaddress=/testimage/iso

in each one. I'm burning to four dvds in total. Sometimes this works but other times it fails with the error message

:-? the LUN appears to be stuck writing LBA=124f70h, retry in 0ms
:-[ WRITE@LBA=80124f70h failed with SK=2h/ASC=04h/ACQ=08h]: Resource temporarily unavailable
builtin_dd: 1199984*2KB out @ average 4.8x1385KBps
:-( write failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
/dev/scd2: flushing cache
/dev/scd2: updating RMA
/dev/scd2: closing disc
/dev/scd2: reloading tray

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to fix this?

p.s. sorry if this in in the wrong place.
