Groupware apps vs. project management apps

Hello all,

I am on the look out for a web-based groupware/project management tool. I am beginning to realize that CMS (like php-nuke/post-nuke) provide funationality very similar to project management tools (like moregroupware or dotproject).

My context of use is the following:
- manage three or four projects with about 10 individuals each
- use forums to have searchable/threaded discussions with option for email notification (much like LQ!)
- some form of gant-chart / project status tracking
- share files (preferably grouped by project/subject)
What is your suggestion on the choice of paradigm? i.e. should I settle down on a groupware app or *nuke type of app?

What are your experiences in using such tools? Are there any comparison reports on such tools esp. with regard to the level of maturity of the apps? Googling mainly resulted in M$ tools and not much of above mentioned OSS apps :-(

Cheers,
Thas
