Welcome to LQ.
That is not from installing an RPM package. Is from an SRC.RPM ( SRPM ), which is source code only. And the warnings have absolutely no importance. Is an info, telling you, who the package "Packager" is / was. Installing thunderbird : Please use the command : # yum install thunderbird ..... |

Thanks for early reply and I am trying to install by yum install *.rpm....but I ma getting the below output... yum install thunderbird-2.0.0.21-1.el5.centos.src.rpm Loading "installonlyn" plugin Loading "rhnplugin" plugin This system is not registered with RHN. RHN support will be disabled. Setting up Install Process Setting up repositories Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/mirrors-rpmforge error was [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service not known')> Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: rpmforge And thing heppening with openoffice.org-2.3.0-6.11.el5.src.rpm My kernel version is 2.6.24-ovz009 and RHEL5 THANK YOU! |

.. see post # 1. The main purpose of yum is to download a package from Redhat .. and then install it. Works, when you have an account at Redhat. Not paying → no support → no software to get. I can repeat : those " src.rpm " are not " .rpm " packages. An SRC.RPM is is used when building RPM. So the openoffice.org-2.3.0-6.11.el5.src.rpm is not usable as is either. If you want a free Redhat EL 5 : Use the free version : CentOS 5.4 http://distrowatch.com/index.php?dis...h=all&year=all http://www.centos.org/ ..... |
Yes Sir, finally I could able to install thunderbird-1.5.0.12-1.el5 in my linux box. And thank you very much for your cooperation.
And same thing I am facing while installing Open-Office. If you have any idea about open-office rpm for my linux box then please write down the version if possible. And I am trying to get it from Internet as well. Thank You! Sir....keep in touch |
