grip freezes while attempting to rip cd

Mandrake 10 com. I am trying to rip cda files from a rewritabel CD. Grip originally was configured to rip from /dev/cdrom, my read only DVD/CD drive. At this time Grip would open from the menu icon and as a non-root user from an xterm. I changed the device from /dev/cdrom to /dev/cdrom2 under the config tab in Grip which I thought was my DVD/CD RW. I should have typed /dev/cdrom1. There is no symlink /dev/cdrom2

Now when I attempt to start Grip from the icon or an xterm it won't open. under the xterm as a non-root user I get a message it can't access the /dev/cdrom2 which doesn't exist. If I log into the xterm as root grip opens but crashes whatever I do beyond that point.

I have un and re-installed it to no avail. It all stems from that bad entry of /dev/cdrom2. Is there a Grip config file that has that device in it that is causing this problem?

Stumped,

Jack

in your home directory is a hidden file .grip
edit it and change the third line about the device "cd_device"
if that fixes it you might want to file a bug report
bad user input should never cause an app to crash or not start

That did the trick and I posted a bug report too.

Thanks!
