Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

This is pretty weird, and I'm stuck. I have used Grip flawlessly on Mandrake 9 for quite some time now. I updated to RC 2 recently, and it no longer worked. I figure, no big deal, I'll go back to 9.0 since it was more stable anyway. Well, it STILL doesn't work. I've installed Mandrake a few times now to see if there's some obvious something or other that I'm missing, but I'm doing it the same way I've done it numerous times on numerous machines.
I can open Grip, rip multiple CD's, etc, but when I try to close it, it will hang, and then after about 20 seconds, the CD-ROM will try to read about every 10 seconds, and while it's doing that, the whole machine freezes (on RC 2, the computer would freeze permanently, and the keyboard lights would blink). I've checked my mount point of my CD-ROM, made sure I had proper permissions, etc, and I can't figure out what's causing this. What's even MORE confusing is that it had always worked fine in 9.0 before, with no tweaking at all required. I've formatted all my partitions, and actually, I'm using completely new ones as well, so I don't think it's some sort of holdover from RC 2.
