GProftpd


has anyone used this gui program for proftpd?

iam trying it out now and its very very easy but iam stuck on this 1 part...

i get this error when i try to start the ftp server..

blingbling:/location1/location2# gproftpd
- no such group 'nobody'
- Fatal: Group: Unknown group 'nobody'.

i dont understand what to put here... this is what would fix it...
this server runs as this user: nobody
this server runs as this group: nobody

i have to change it to something and i dono to what or even how?

can anyone help me out?

Sounds like you need to create the "nobody" group on your machine. You may have this in your graphical window somewhere, but I dont know a single thing about the GUI. At the command line, you just type "groupadd nobody" and then try your changes again.

If you don't mind I woudl just like to jum in here and ask a few questions myself....
Let's just start witht he easy question.......how the hec do you configure to get hte server to go on-line???????

I installed everything fine and can access the package with no problem, everything seems fine but I just can't get it to go-online???


PLEASE HELP ME GET MY FTP GOING???

I use Mandrake 10.1, this is a box inside my firewall, maybe I shoudl give it an IP outside of my firewall?

So close but yet so far...
Okay, I have people connecting to my FTP server but they can not list, I had a look at the settigns under GProFTP and all seems fine but the people can not list or do anythign, they can see my message and detils but can not do anythign else??????
