Google Chromium Daily Builds Coming Along Nicely
 

On my Ubuntu machine I have installed the daily builds chromium and allow it to update through Synaptic daily. I have found that a number of the bugishness I was experiencing a few weeks ago is gone and that it seems to be MUCH MUCH FASTER in the last couple of updates. I was wondering if anyone else was noticing this?

My only real complaints with it at this point are that I can't edit the user agent, the look of the thing, and editing posts in the forums still doesn't work on this particular setup (I have the beta and a slackbuild that I think was based on the beta ...can't remember at the moment).

Are others as pleasantly surprised with the progress as I am?

I don't have Chromium installed anymore but Chrome I still do, which is based on Chromium but more stable and has more features.
Personally I don't see any reason to use Chrome. If you want all the features you can think of and you want it with the speed of light you should use Opera!

Still, I am following the progress and the guys and girls from Google are going fast! Surely this will become a great browser..

I'll probably try Opera at some point. Between Firefox, Konqueror, and various chrome/chromiums I'm not shopping for a browser at the moment. I do enjoy seeing the progress of chromium mostly I suppose because I'm new to linux, can't code at all, but I can try out software still in dev. It's the same reason on my personal machine (not the one the family uses or the one I use at work) I run slack_current I suppose.

I used to swear by Opera, thought it was the next best thing to sliced bread, Then I happened to notice how many resources it was using, and quickly thought differently. I have debian/sid installed, and at the time was using Opera 10.x. Through the sidux forums I learned of an open source repository working on Chromium. I am using version 4.0.277.0 which currently the unstable release of the browser.

I am pretty satisfied with its performance.

Why use non free software? Keep away from the likes of Opera and Chrome. If you are interested in Chrome use Chromium.
