Good simple text editor like WinSyntax needed

Hi there folks,

I know all about Kedit, Kate, Kwrite and Gedit. They're all ok I guess. Kate is a certain no-no because it's full of bugs. Keep clicking the Close button, and see as the icons disappear.

Kedit lacks on important feature. Kwrite I just don't like; reminds me too much of Kate.

Gedit is ok, but not the best. It's very very slow compared to its KDE equivalents.

Basically, if anyone knows WinSyntax, I need something like that.
Or basically a simple text editor. It must be fast, and at least highlight HTML coding in different colours. Tabs isn't necessary if it's fast, but would be nice.

Kedit is perfect, but no highlighting of coding.

Thanks all.

Ok, for those reading:

The features I need in this editor which are MOST important are syntax highlighting for all languages. The problem in Kwrite, Kate and Gedit is that they don't do that. If you have used WinSyntax you'll know what I mean. In Kate and Kwrite and Gedit it only does for HTML, or whichever language you choose. I need for it all to be automatic.

Tabs are not important if it does have CORRECT syntax highlighting.

Thanks

it is very stable and picks up just about every language, but not as sexy as kate.

I'm currently using Kwrite. The problem is that it isn't like WinSyntax. True, I probably won't find a Linux WinSyntax, however Kwrite/Kate/Kedit/Gedit are all like Notepad when compared with WinSyntax. The thing is you really need to try out WinSyntax to know what I'm talking about.

Ok thanks, I'll try that out.
