Good music making software?

I work for an after school club for kids in the computer lab. I was wondering if there are any good music making programs that the kids could use for edubuntuu 7.1 (if that matters).

For recording, take a look at Audacity. You can edit with Audacity and save in many different file formats.

Hello.
If you want to create music you should check out LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio). Its simple and easy to learn. For more info here's the homepage.
