GNU-screen not working properly


hello: i'm a newb to the world of command line usage so i installed gnu-screen and i can split the screen properly but when i type into any of the terminals i open it inputs the same into all of them and opens the same programs etc. essentially mirroring the same program across all the windows

what am i doing wrong? is it an error of screen or do i need to install something or am i ust being thick?
any help appreciated

ok i have found the problem: i had misread the documentation and trying to use an apparently non-existant keybinding. thanks anyways
