Gnome won't autoplay DVD. What gives?

I am using Gnome on FC2. I have set the CD and DVD preferences to run the following command on insertion of a video DVD (using the CD and DVD preference program inside the "Preferences" menu for Gnome):

xine -f -g dvd://dev/dvd

Unfortunately, when I insert a video DVD, nothing happens. What gives?

Are you missing the libdvd libraries? Have you ever been able to play DVDs? Does the application crash, or do nothing? Any errors?

The issue is not that a video DVD is not able to play. It's that the autoplay feature of GNOME is not working. I have altered the default action that takes place on insert of a DVD, and it's simply not triggering.
